Becky Collins, a local artist, has been painting with Encaustic paint (molten beeswax mixed with resin and pigment) for ten years and has been a decorative painter for 22 years. In this commissioned piece bee’s were the inspiration for the horse. Queen Bee has a copper crown and 26 inch crystal encrusted wings made of metal. She also has a positive message on her side: “bee the light”. As a very whimsical diva, she has a busy hive on her back with buzzing worker bees flying about. Her glittery hooves are a tribute to the USA and the artist’s time in the service.
