Tails to Rails Bird Sculpture

Location

62 N. Trade St., Tryon, NC 28782

Sitting in the plaza’s fountain, on Trade Street are two mourning doves perched on a small section of train rail on top of a railroad tie. Local conservation artist Dale Weiler created this stone sculpture. It was installed in 2017 and honors two of Weiler’s friends Jackie and Bob Lane and their love for Tryon. The doves symbolize the community’s connection to nature as well as its ties to trains.
